Marciana
LIBRARY
If you would like to admire one of the largest libraries in Italy, you should pay a visit to the Biblioteca Marciana, or Sansoviana (“National Library of St Mark”), a place of historical importance; its halls, sculptures, and coffered ceilings are true works of art in their own right. It contains one of the world’s most valuable collections of Greek, Latin and Oriental classical texts.
One million printed books, and thirteen thousand manuscripts.
An interior with precise, rigorous architecture pervaded by the spirit of the Renaissance.
